The Lombiq Hosting Suite - the technology behind DotNest that you can use in your own application
Overview
The Lombiq Hosting Suite is a set of Orchard modules and other components, as well as a continuous integration environment, many different practices, and know-how that deal with various aspects of operating and hosting Orchard (both Orchard Core and Orchard 1) applications in efficient, maintainable ways. With the Hosting Suite, we can run a multi-tennant Orchard app with thousands of tenants, rolling out updates without planned downstimes (and extremely few unplanned ones!). It drives DotNest too, but you can use it to improve your own application: to benefit from the features of the Hosting Suite you can incorporate it into your application without moving your sites to DotNest.
All parts of the Hosting Suite dealing with operating Orchard Core sites are open-source:
- Lombiq Hosting - Tenants for Orchard Core: Improves multi-tenancy with admin features, quota management, and security aspects.
- Lombiq Hosting - Media Theme for Orchard Core: Allows the deployment of Orchard Core themes to the Media Library, allowing full theming in a restricted SaaS scenario. This is what the DotNest Core SDK uses as well.
- Lombiq Hosting - Build Version Display for Orchard Core: Displays the build version (i.e. .NET assembly version or other) at a glance, showing you what version of the application is deployed in a given environment.
- Lombiq Hosting - Azure Application Insights for Orchard Core: Enables easy integration of Azure Application Insights telemetry into Orchard. Useful for Azure-based cloud hosting.
- Lombiq GitHub Actions: Reusable GitHub Actions CI workflows, also ones used to deploy to Azure and play together with Application Insights release annotations.
